In addition to archival research, survey procedures, detection techniques, and charting methods are applied to locate munitions in the sea.State-of-the-art acoustical, optical, magnetic and chemical detection, increasing autonomy of sensor platforms, and upcoming AI-based interpretation methods are enabling to conduct wide-area surveys and detailed assessments of artificial objects on the seafloor in the near future.
